Overwhelmed? Understanding and Managing Stress for Better Mental Health & Wellbeing

Feeling stressed? You're not alone. A whopping 74% of UK adults reported feeling stressed in 2022 (ONS, 2023). Stress isn't just a minor inconvenience; it's a serious threat to our mental wellbeing. Prolonged stress can trigger anxiety, depression, and even burnout, significantly impacting our daily lives and relationships. It can leave us feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and unable to cope.

But the impact goes deeper. Stress fuels inflammation throughout the body (Segerstrom & Miller, 2004). This chronic inflammation is linked to a range of physical and mental health problems, including cardiovascular disease and worsening mental health conditions. So, managing stress isn't just about feeling better; it's about protecting your long-term health. Prioritising self-care, like exercise, mindfulness, boundaries, removing ourselves from harmful situations, can make a world of difference.

Responsibility & God of peace

We have responsibility on our part to practice self-care, but as a Health & Wellness Coach with a Christian background, I know there is more to managing stress. The Holy Bible tells us talks about God of peace. I serve the living God that is the God of peace (Romans 15:33). And in Philipians 4:7, it is written in: "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.".

Do you have this peace that surpasses all human understanding, that triumphs beyond every challenging situation in your life?

There is a step required from us: "Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you." as we are advised in 1 Peter 5:7.

You can navigate the ups and downs of life with grace, purpose, and an unwavering peace that transcends all understanding.

Remember, you are not alone.
